Every experience adds something. I’m Manuel Morrow, and I’m building a future in business and law from the lessons I’ve learned in classrooms, on baseball fields, and through service.

Cooking, music, baseball, and making people feel seen.
Adapted from “Ingredients.”
My professional story begins in Denver, Colorado: in classrooms, on baseball fields, and at my mother’s school, where I have volunteered since my freshman year of high school.
I have never had a paid job, but I have learned what it means to contribute. Volunteering taught me to listen, communicate respectfully, and take small responsibilities seriously. Professionalism, to me, is about how you behave when people depend on you.
For a long time, I hated writing. That changed when my Black Literature teacher, Dr. Rhinaldi, encouraged me to stop hiding my voice behind what I thought a teacher wanted to hear. After my first personal essay earned a D, she told me, “You wrote it, but it wasn’t you.” I rewrote it about fishing with my father—and finally felt like my words belonged to me.
Good communication starts with having something honest to say—and making room for someone else to say it, too.
My father’s fishing lessons taught me patience and dependability. My mother showed me the connection between education and service. In South High School’s Black Equity Group, I learned to listen during difficult conversations and speak up when something needed to change. Baseball taught me to accept criticism, support younger players, and put the team’s goals ahead of individual recognition.
Moving from Denver to Creighton challenged me to adapt and think more deeply about identity and belonging. I believe people deserve the chance to show who they are before others decide who they must be. That belief shapes the way I lead, serve, and build relationships.
Now, as a student studying Marketing and International Business, I’m developing the communication, leadership, and analytical skills I want to bring to business and law. I connect personal stories to bigger questions, but I’m also learning that natural ability cannot replace discipline.
Cooking is the best comparison for the person I’m becoming. I gather what I’ve learned, make adjustments, and keep building. I don’t know exactly what the finished product will look like yet. I’m still cooking.
Literature and music remind me that ideas connect when they sound human. I want to communicate clearly without losing my own voice.
Volunteering taught me to notice what people need and help where I can. Dependability shows up in everyday actions.
Baseball and student leadership taught me to accept feedback, encourage others, and work toward a shared goal.

My story is about finding my voice, showing up for others, and bringing those lessons into the future I’m building.

Hi, I’m Manuel Morrow. I’m from Denver, Colorado, and I’m a student at Creighton University studying Marketing and International Business.
I think of my story like cooking: every experience adds an ingredient. My family taught me patience and service. My Black Literature teacher helped me discover my voice. Volunteering, baseball, and my school’s Black Equity Group taught me how to listen, work with others, and lead.
Outside the classroom, I enjoy cooking, music, and baseball. Those interests are part of how I connect with people. As I work toward a future in business and law, I want to bring that same connection, fairness, and respect into my professional life.
I’m still learning, still growing, and still cooking.
I’m still cooking.
